Our fireman! So the story goes... Dakota is obsessed and I mean obsessed with firemen and would tell anyone that would listen he was going to be a fireman when he got BIG... but someone (we don't know who) told him that you could die if you were a fireman so in a very sad scared voice he told me not too long ago he doesn't want to be a fireman anymore b/c you could die so in his words "I guess I'll be a train driver" still not thrilled with whoever decided to ruin his innocence on that one come on he's 4... anyways... he had a birthday party and it was dress up so of course below is my fireman all ready to go... and when he got home I surprised him with a trip to the fire station, it was 'Open Day' in aberdeen last saturday meaning all the public buildings that are usually closed to the public are open so off we went...
Yes, you will see him holding his ears b/c he doesn't like loud noises but he was thrilled to be there... and later all the fear is gone you will see...
Asia got up in the truck, Dakota stayed back with me too afraid they would turn the sirens on. The firemen guys were so nice and did everything to try to persuade him to get up!
They turned on the lights for him... in UK all official lights are all blue...

Okay so one of the guys told Dakota he would give him a tour of where they sleep, eat etc... Dakota was over the moon, so up we go! This is where they have their breaks, computer, eat. When we got up there two firemen were sitting in those chairs having their tea behind the kids and all the sudden the sirens were going like crazy and they all started running for the poles to go downstairs... it was a live call... it was so cool... Dakota got see them go down the pole and then...
This is them driving away... we were told to wait upstairs on not move until someone came and got us. The kids were going crazy thinking this is one of the coolest things ever. So we waited and took these pictures then one of the guys came up and showed the kids the piece of paper with the ER on it, that was even cooler for them since Dakota is addicted to a show called 'Fireman Sam' so he knew exactly what was going on. It really was awesome.
So back down we go to finish the tour & of course have our turn on the poles...
Below is when we first got there and Dakota was being sure that I remembered he doesn't want to be a fireman anymore (even though he still loves them) and then the next one is after all the excitement we were walking to the car and he goes... Okay mom I want to be a firemen again! It was adorable! For the last week he will tell anyone who listen about the fire station and now he wants to be a fireman again but only at that fire station in Aberdeen!!! Hay maybe we are never leaving here!
